To help support women living at the Gatehouse who are going through a life crisis by "bringing the sun" through sunflower paintings.

 

Many of the women and children in this community are escaping situations such as domestic abuse or poverty. I want to address the problem by providing hope. I’ve read many studies on women of abuse and many studies have shown that women usually stay in an abusive relationship because they are numb to the pain. Without the strength to rise up and win back a better life, they never truly get out of that never-ending cycle of abuse and poverty. 

 

I would love to use this opportunity as a way to help them realize they should love themselves and see that life can offer beautiful moments, no matter how small. My actions and the story that I can tell from this opportunity has the potential to help other communities around the world, and help those women in those communities. Art has the power to change people’s perceptions and feelings, stronger than any other entity could and I am truly looking forward to helping these women find a better life.
